Résumé & Press

Avery has always found acting to be infectious. When preparing for parts she becomes so immersed  in her craft that she finds herself going "off book" not only for her own lines, but the entire script! As she once told her parents: "If math was 1% as fun as acting I'd be Einstein!"

Avery's passion for acting, particularly in musicals, has been put on display in several youth ensemble productions at the Emerald City Theater School (Chicago) where she has reveled in mastering a New Yorker's accent to belt out Adelaide's Lament in Guys and Dolls and Seize The Day as Davey in Newsies. Avery tackled Sondheim as Little Red Riding Hood in Into the Woods and showcased her singing and dancing by prancing around the stage as Bombalurina in Cats.  Avery has showed off her acting, singing and dancing talents in several other shows culminating in her being cast as Thing 1/Thing 2 in the upcoming Chicago (adult) production of Cat in the Hat by the ECT Production Company (thanks Ernie Nolan!) Recently Avery has spread her wings beyond musical theater and has appeared several times on camera.  She shows off her comedic chops in the hilariousTeachers: A Web Series. (Big Shout Out To The Katydids!)  Avery also channeled a Mean Girls queen bee as co-lead Brittany in the Columbia College production of Scout. When not on the stage, Avery sings with the Chicago Children's Choir, dances at the Gus Giordano Dance School, plays piano, tennis and soccer!
